STOCK SALE
TE KOWHAI CLEARANCE Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Company, Limited, report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr C. W. Gifford at Te Kowhai yesterday. The cows came forward in good condition and sold under keen competition. The ■whole herd averaged £ll 2s 6d. The heifers also met with a keen inquiry and prices were satisfactory. Good quality Jersey cows (July oalvers) made £ll to £l3; good quality Jersey cows (August calvers'i, £lO to £l2 15s: good quality Jersey cross cows (July and August cal vers), £9 10s to £ll 15s; backward cows to £8 10s; good quality Jersey and Jersey cross heifers ('early calvers), £lO to £ll : good quality later calvers, £8 10s to £9 15s; backward heifers to £8 ss. CLEARING BALE AT FENCOURT The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held a successful clearing sale on behalf of the Johnson Estate at Fencourt on Friday. The herd, which comprised Jersey and Jersey cross cows, came forward in nice order, and evoked satisfactory competition from a good attendance of buyers. The herd of 28 averaged £9 3s. Good quality well grown in-calf Jersey heifers made £10; best Jersey and Jersey cross cows, early calvers, £lO to £ll 15s; later calvers, £7 to £9 JOs; aged farm geldings, £l6 to £24 JOs; Tamworth sows in pig, £3 5s to C 4 ss; store pigs, 13s to 24*. Sundries and implements sold readily at satisfactory figures.
