Jack ran the last part of the way one and a-half times as quickly as the first part, which means to* say that he needs 3 minutes to walk the same distance he ran run in 2 minutes. He arrived 2 minutes late so the whole distance took him 32 minutes. From these 32 minutes 7 minutes must be deducted for his stop. The rest, 25 minutes, must be divided by the proportionate numbers we have just ascertained, viz., 3 and 2. Thus, the sum will look like this: (25 divided by 5) x. 3=15. The first part of the way taking 15 minutes, Jack must have met his friend just half-way between his home and school at 8.45 sharp.
