EUCHRE TOURNAMENT LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB A pleasant evening was held in the Parish Hall recently \xlipii the first night of flie aggregate euchre tournament, in aid of the Senior League Football Club, was keenly contested. Mrs Fitness was Ihe winner of the ladies’ prize for the evening, and Mr W. Dare won the men’s. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs -dryer, and Mr E. Robson and Mr L. Tucker, and Mr D. Fitness were the winners of the lucky names.

IN HONOUR OF THE REV. A. BOTT An enjoyable evening was tendered the Rev. A. Bott, who has been in charge of the parish for the past year and who has resigned his position prior to his marriage and departure for England. The social was held in the Parish Hall and was well attended by parishioners and friends. Mr Knighton and Mrs Puckett supplied the music for dancing. Mr Gaukrodger, vicar’s warden, Archdeacon Haiti, and the Rev. W. Hughes spoke in appreciative terms of the work Mr Bott had done, and Mr Gaukrodger presented the guest-of-honour with a wallet as a mark of appreciation from his friends.
Mr Bott suitably responded. Among those present were:—Mesdames M. Loughlan, G. Wilmot, W. Turbott, M. Puckett, E. ,Clout, W. Martin (Horotiu), F. Hall, H. Bainbridge (Auckland), J. Little, E. Knighton. Bridgeinan (Gordonton), M. Hill, A. Brewer, E. Bate; Misses D. Cobb (Hamilton), H. Rayner, J. Knighton, E. Speirs (Horotiu), E. Raiti, J. Raiti, E. Starr, E. Bate, V. Knighton, A. Armstrong. GIRL GUIDE FUNOTION MISS ARMSTRONG HONOURED A jolly social evening was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall recently by the members of the Girl Guide Committee and Guides, as a mark of appreciation for the work Captain, Miss Alma Armstrong, had performed as leader of the Ngaruawahla Girl Guides for five years. Mrs A. Potter, president of the committee, in making the presentation of a handsome handbag to Miss Armstrong, said it was with regret the committee had accepted her resignation. Miss Margaret Isdale on behalf of the Guides, presented to Miss Armstrong a beautiful crystal vase. Miss Armstrong suitably replied. An enjoyable musical programme was presented, those taking part being as follows:—Piano solo, Margaret Isdale; charade, the Guides; recitation, Mrs \Y. S. Fuller; songs, Mesdames A. Potter, B. Mear, and Miss E. Speirs. Games and competitions were also enjoyed. Those present were:—Mesdames A. Potter, G. B. Isdale, J. D. Joy, B. Mear, 11. J. Sampson, Guy Marriott, F. Hall, M. Loughnan, W. McCarthy, S. Webb, C. Brown, W. S. Fuller; Misses E. Rayner, D. E. Ensor, E. Speirs and the Guides. ANGLICAN CHURCH SUCCESSFUL BRING AND BUY A successful bring and buy afternoon and evening was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday, the proceeds to enable improvements to be carried out to the hall. Those in charge of the stalls were: Cakes and sweets, Mesdames F. Hall. A. Potter, Guy Marriott; produce, Mrs J. MacMahon; fancy goods, Mesdames L. Whitlock and M. Puckett; hoopla, Miss MacMahon; competitions, Mr L. Whitlock; afternoon tea, Mrs Sodersten and Miss MacMahon; clock golf, Mrs J. D. ,lov and Miss Babs Ensor. Competitions were won by Mrs M. Kay and Mrs W. S. Fuller.
