THE GOVERNMENT DEFEATED MR DE VALERA’S INTENTIONS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ASKED united Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlgn* DUBLIN, May 26 Mr de Valera’s Government was defeated yesterday by 52 votes to 51 on a private motion. The Dail immediately adjourned, but It is understood Mr de Valera does not propose to resign. Instead, he will ask the Dail for a vote, of confidence and abide by its decision. PAYMENTS FOR BRITAIN LISTS FOR £10,000.000 LOAN United Press Assn.— Elec. Tel. Cooyrlghi LONDON. May 26 Tli' loan whirli is being floated b> the Eire Government to assist to meet the payment of £10.000.000 to Britain in terms of the recent agreement was opened on Monday. The lists will close on Saturday. The Government took up £4,000,000.
