The Prime Minister, the Right Hon. M. J. Savage, contemplates a tour of the western portion of the North Island within the next fortnight, starting In Taranaki.

Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waltomo, was in Hamilton last night.

Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, arrived in Hamilton from Wellington to-day. Mr D. J. Cummings, Commissioner of Police, Wellington, is visiting Hamilton on departmental business.

Mr Justice Ostler will leave Wellington by the Awatea to-night on a visit to Queensland.

Professor W. P. Evans, of Wellington, has been elected president of the Royal Society of New Zealand.

Colonel O. 11. Mead, officer commanding the Northern Military District, is visiting Hamilton.

Mr C. M. Turrell has been elected chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, in succession to Mr D. J. McGowan.

Mr W. B. Bluck was re-elected chairman of the Otorohanga County Council at the annual meeting this week.

The appointment of Messrs J. S. Jessep and H- M. Christie, M.P., as members of the Board of Native Affairs, is announced in the Gazette.

Messrs J. L. Muir, F. W. Smith, G. W. Stratmore, C. Plummer (Wellington), T. G. Walker, J. E. Ainsworth, E. H. Gibbons (Auckland), G. K. Law (Gisborne) and F. Dowell (Palmerston North) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

The directors of the Tatua Dairy Company, Tatuanui, Morrinsville, have appointed Mr J. Graham, now of Okaiawa, Taranaki, as manager in succession' to Mr T. A. Colson, who retires at the end of June after 42 years’ service In the dairying industry.

Dr. I. J. Cunningham, research officer in animal nutrition at the Wallaceville veterinary laboratory, will represent New Zealand at the annual general meeting of the Australian Veterinary Association. Dr. Cunningham is in Australia.

Air Vice-Marshal Sir Edward Ellington, Inspector-General of the British Air Force, who is en route to Australia to report on the Air Force, and is due at Fremantle on June 14, is expected to sail for New Zealand about July 15.

Mr F. W. Horner, president of the New Zealand Baptist Union, will pay his annual presidential visit during the week-end to the South Auckland Baptist Churches, including Hamilton, Morrinsvill, Cambridge, Putaruru. and also the newly-foimed church at Te Awamutu. He will speak at the Hamilton Church on Sunday evening.
