“ The Heart Is Young ”

Cinema . . . Snapshots

Janet Gaynor's first picture tor David 0. Selznick -since “A Star Is Born,” which made her a leading contender for the next Academy award, will star her In one of the season's sprlghtliest comedy-romances, “The Young In Heart.” Selznick has given orders for work to begin at once on the I. A. R. Wylie novel, under the title, ‘‘The Gay Banditti.” As in the case of “Gone with the Wind,” Selznick stole a march on his competitors by purchasing the story while it was still in galley-proof form. It is regarded as the prize plum of the current story crop, and one of the best ever written by the versatile Miss Wylie, whose stories have been appearing in leading publications for more than a score of years. In this film Janet will become George-Ann Carlyon, daughter of an adventurous and charming family that chooses to live by its wits. Matters reach a crisis, and George-Ann takes command. Among the other characters are Richard, her handsome brother; the roguish Marmy, her mother; the ex-actor father with the army officer complex; Duncan McGrath, George-Ann’s suitor, and Miss Fortune, object of the family’s designs.
