Boh Burns is an Arkansas hill-billy who yearns to become a song composer, although his efforts while awake are hopelessly amateurish. When he is asleep, however, he can—and does—write sparkling songs, and on this odd phenomenon the whole plot of the picture hinges. A triangular romance develops among Jack Ookie. Kcnr.k Raker and Ann Miller, clever dancing ingenue. Victor Moore as flu* Radio City producer. Milton Berle as Oakie’* pianist, and Helen Broderick as Ann Miller's acid tnngued sister, are also involved in the comedy. "Strangers on Honeymoon." an exciting drama, will also be screened.

CIVIC THEATRE “Hawaii Calls." Bobby Breen’s latest musical starring film, is very entertaining. Bobby, as a former Fan Francisco si reef gamin who goes to Ihe Hawaiian Islands as a stowaway, handle* his role with refreshing naturalness. His singing voice seems to harp increased in sweetness and his rendition of several songs is delightful. Almost the entire story takes place in Hawaii, and is filmed against backgrounds of tropical beauty. There are sequences at a luau. or native feast, which are breath-taking in their loveliness. A high point in tht9 celebration is reached when a group of native girls perform graceful Hawaiian dances in a luxuriant woodland setting. Bobby’s companion as a stowaway is Pua Lahi, a young Hawaiian newsboy who has been his inseparable companion in San Francisco. and the two. after escaping from Ihe ship at Honolulu, embark on a series of highly amusing adventures. Constantly under the necessity of eluding the police, the boys finally make their way to the island of Maui, and here become the central figures in an exciting manhunt. Ned Sparks, as a tippling ship’s musician, is their firm friend.

ROXY THEATRE The first picture to come out of Spain's flaming revolt- is "The Last Train from Madrid." Headed by Dorothy Lamour. Lew Ayres. Gilbert Roland. Karen Morley and Lionel At will, the cast also includes Helen Mack. Robert. Cummings, Olympe Bradna and Anthony Quinn. The story deals with ten persons, most of them strangers to one another, whose destinies are dramatically brought together in a frenzied effort to obtain passes to hoard the last train permitted to leave the beleaguered Spanisn capital before the commencement of a heavy bombardment. With Bing Crosby in the star position. the cast of the entertaining film, "Double or Nothing." includes such popular entertainers as Martha Raye, Andy Devine. Mary Carlisle. William Frawley, Fay Holden. Samuel S. Hinds. William Henry and others, and also has specialty bits from the comedy team the Calgary Brothers and the noted eccentric dancing team of Arnes and Arno.
