HAMILTON ROYAL FIXTURE SEVERAL DONATIONS RECEIVED DOMINION JUMPING COMPETITION Advice was received at a meeting of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday that the Governor-General, Lord Galway, would perform the official opening "of the Royal Show in Hamilton. It was decided to have the ceremony on the second day, October 28, which would be the people’s day. Advice was received that the Governor-General would spend the night of October 27 In Hamilton, and would return to Wellington on October 28. Mr P. H. Clarkln presided at the meeting. A Three-day Fixture The advisability of making the Royal Show’ a three-day fixture was discussed at length and it was thought lhat three days would be the most desirable duration. Included in a motion to that effect was a clause asking the Railways Department to make arrangements fo have the stock removed after the grand parade on Saturday,* October 29. This would avoid the necessity of keeping the stock on the grounds during the week-end. The motion was carried. A committee comprising Messrs H. Windsor, J. M. McNicol and T. Martin was appointed to discuss the matter of keeping the fat lambs on the grounds throughout the show, as several members expressed the opinion lhat such a procedure would not be advisable.

Williams towards the juvenile pony classes. Suggestion Approved Appreciation was also expressed to Mr A. K. Manning for his suggestion in connection with the Dominion jumping competition, members agreeing that the competition would be much more attractive If run In two heats on the first and second days, with the Anal on the concluding day. With a large number of competitors taking part the event was liable to become tedious if run off in one day, and the introduction of heats was a step in the right direction. Mr G. Hinton was appointed to act on a district committee in connection with the Racing Conference’s remount encouragement schemp. and Messrs A. F. McDonald and T. Church were appointed as the association’s representatives on the Hamilton Calf Club Council. A request was received from the Rovers Rugby League Football Club for a playing ground inside the racecourse. The club experienced difficulty in securing a suitable ground and was willing to pay the association for the use of the property. The question was raised as to whether the club would interfere with the Polo Club's ground, and the matter was referred to the president and the vice-presidents. Grounds for Training Reporting on a meeting at which Rugby and Rugby League players had applied for the use of the ground for night training purposes, Mr W. L. Ranstead, the secretary, outlined several proposals that had been made to provide further facilities for the players. This would be done at no cost to the association, and it was expected that a caretaker would also be appointed. It was reported that two working bees had already performed good work at the showgrounds, and proposals were well under way for the construction of a traffic road from Hukunui Road into the grounds.
