COLOURFUL SCENE
A NAVAL INVESTITURE GOVERNOR.-GENERAL OFFICIATES (3y Telegraph—hr,.,, A^netatlnnt AUCKLAND, Thursday Resounding to the strains of martial music, the Devonport Naval Base presented a colourful scene this morning on the occasion of the investiture by the Governor-General, Lord Galway, of Commander C. B. Tinier, Naval Officer in charge of the Base.' and Mr G. McCloghrie, manager of the Base, with the Order of the British Empire. Lord Galway, in the uniform of a colonel of the Household Brigad”, inspected the guard, accompanied by Rear-Admiral, tiie Hon. E. R. Drummond and other officers. Later His Excellency lunched informally aboard H. Achilles with Rear-Admiral Drummond. In accordance with naval tradition K.M.S. Achilles and H.M.S. Philomel were dressed with flags in honour of Queen Mary's birthday. At noon a Roya! salute of 21 guns was fired from the Achilles.
