WEDDING

STEINER—MISSEN Blue and white were the predominating colours at the marriage of Veronica Mary, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Missen, Shoal Bay Road, Devonport, to John Charles, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Steiner, Waihou, at All Souls’ Church, Devonport, on the morning of Tuesday, May 24. The Rev. Father Furlong was officiating minister and later celebrated Nuptial Mass. Mr J. Papesch presided at the organ, and Miss Marie Missen, sister of the bride, sang Gounod's Ave Maria. The bride who entered the church with her father, looked charming in a gown of bridal satin, cut on princess lines, to form a train. The bodice, which was finished with buttons down the hack, was fashioned with long, tight-fitting sleeves, finishing in points over the wrists and was trimmed with a spray of orange blossom on the corsage. Her ivory tulle veil was beautifully hand-embroidered and fell from a halo of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of roses, freesias, chrysanthemums, and maidenhair fern. As is the custom the bride entered tha church wearing her Children of Mary cloak which was removed be-

fore the ceremony and placed on a pedestal before Our Lady's Altar. The bridesmaids were Miss Agnes Missen, sister of the bride, and Miss Ettie Steiner, cousin of the bridegroom, who wore similar frocks of pale blue taffeta, cut on princess lines and flaring from the waist. The bodices, finished with buttons to the waist, were fashioned with puff sleeves, and a Peter Pan collar and trimmed with cyclamen flowers and black velvet ribbon- They wore Juliet caps of blue tulle finished with halos of cyclamen rose buds and carried posies of rosebuds and maidenhair fern. Little Zita Steiner, sister of the bridegroom, was llowor girl, and wore blue taffeta cut on Victorian lines and u circlet of blue flowers.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr B. Steiner as best man, and Mr W. Steiner as groomsman. A reception was held later at Cheltenham Tea Kiosk, where Mr and Mrs Missen received their guests assisted by Mr and Mrs Steiner. Mrs Missen was wearing a brown tweed ensemble and furs, with matching accessories, and she carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers. Mrs Steiner wore black crepe-de-chine and furs, and carried an autumn-tinted posy. When Mr and Mrs J. C. Steiner left by car on the honeymoon, to be spent touring the North Island, the bride wore a tweed costume with brown accessories. They will make their home at Tahuna.
