MEETING OF COUNCIL
(Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Wednesday. Mr W. C. Kennedy presided at to-day’s meeting or the Plako County Council. Also present were Messrs. J. M. Stewart, W. F. Stark, J. Orr, D. Johnson, D. J. Burgess and F. I. Clarke (clerk). A vote of sympathy to the relatives of the late Mr W. T. \V. Hughes was passed, members standing in silence. A letter was read from the Board of Governors of the Thames High School relative to the suggestion that a portion or the low hill land at Wairongomai should be transferred to the County Council for tree-planting purposes and starting ithe matter had been referred to the Department of Education for its direction on the subject. A communication was received from the State Advances Corporation stating the Increased amount to £BOO Tor the Tahuna housing loan would be approved subject to the consent of the Local Government Loans Board. A complaint was received from the Elstow School Committee regarding the speeding of motor cars when passing the school. The matter was referred to the traffic Inspector. The Waitoa branch of the Farmers’ Union wrote In regard to the proposed water scheme for a portion or the Piako County and asking that the matter should also apply to the Waitoa area, where a melting or ratepayers could be held to consider the matter. The subject or a county water supply was Introduced by the council in March and is being carefully considered.
