lie was expressing appreciation of the motor-cyclists' offer to co-operate in every way in the efforts being made to Increase road safety, a deputation representing the New Zealand Autocycle Union, having waited on him and submitted suggestions drawn up by* the Christchurch committee, which included one for honorary road patrols. The Minister, in replying, impressed that something had to be done. He quoted recent statistics as to accidents to motor-cyclists and said lie considered DO per cent of the accidents on the roads of the Dominion were preventable and due to the human element. He would be glad to allow motor-cyclist organisations time to prepare a scheme.
