CHEAPER RATEB URGED RETICULATION OF BACKBLOCKS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WAIPUKURAU, Tuesday A resolution that the Central Hawke's Bay Electric-Power Board should write to the Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, pointing out that no reduction had ever been made by the department for the power sold to rural boards, and that the Minister could be assured that if such a reduction were made, the board would be greatly enabled to assist in the reticulation' of backblock areas, was passed at a meeting of the board today. The chairman, Mr A. C. Russell, in proposing the motion, said the matter of extending power to country districts was exercising the minds of many boards. Economies were necessary and the board would have to get help in some direction to extend ilie lines.
