When Auckland Education Board prohibited smoking- by teachers witlrn school precincts somebody evidently n never-toueh-it wrote to an Auckland paper lo suggest that if the instructors of youth, deprived of their smoke between classes or during lunch lioui would read a nice improving book, they’d gel far more satisfaction on! of it than out of cigarettes. Obviously the writer has never spent hours in a school-room leaching the young idea how to school or he’d know that books, however interesting, make a poor substitute for baccy when tiie brain is weary and worn. At such tunes a whiff is n boon and a blessing inestimable, and will sootiie and calm as nothing else can or 'loes. Tobacco? Well there’s nollrng like genuine •• toasted " jf you want the best results. it’s so pure, fragrant, cool and comforting—two brands for cigarette smokers. Riverbed Gold and Desert Gold—three for the pipe. Cut Plug N<. i 10 Rulishead . Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulli dog . and Cavendish. All are in praeI tically universal use.
