WRESTLER’S CLAIM
REDUCTION IN MAINTENANCE LOSS ON AMERICAN TRIP GISBORNE, Tuesday The wrestler, Meynell Blomfleld. better known as " Lofty ’’ Blomfleld. made an application in the Magistrate's Court to-day for a reduction in a maintenance order in favour of his former wife and his two children totalling £4 10s a week. The order was made when he obtained a divorce 12 months ago. In evidence, Blomfleld said he had kept up the payments until his American trip, which had resulted in a financial loss, and during which his present wife was operated on. He said he had to borrow £250, reaching home with four dollars in bis pocket. Blomfleld said his taxable income in the United States was 450 dollars, his gross earnings being 950 dollars, including 250 dollars for the world championship bout. His Canadian earnings had totalled <OO dollars. lie still owed £l5O on his American debt. The applicant claimed that Ids former wife frequently pestered him with summonses before wrestling contests, and much of his money had gone in defending Court actions. After legal argument, the case was adjourned for further argument.
