RATANA TRAGEDY
RESUMPTION OF INQUIRY MORE EVIDENCE PROPOSED ENGINE-DRIVER’S CONDITION (By Telegraph.—Press Association* WELLINGTON, Monday June 13 is the date tentatively fixed for the resumption of the inquiry into the Ratana derailment. According to latest advice the driver of the train, Mr E- Perclval, is not expected to leave the Wanganui Hospital until about the end of this month. Up till last Monday he had not been out of bed, and it is probable he will not be fit enough to give his evidence when the inquiry resumes on the date mentioned. It is intended, however, to call a number of other witnesses, from 12 to 24 passengers, whose evidence probably will take about a week. Among these witnesses will be the man referred to both as "Ted" and “Mac.”
