RACES AT TE RAPA j BLUE IN MANY SHADES WORN VARIETY IN HATS A day of perfect autumn sunshine favoured tlie meeting of the Waikato j Racing Club held at Te Rapa on Sat- j j urday, when a very large number of | patrons, including many visitors, at- ; tended. Without a breeze to lessen the warmth of the sun, the day was ideal for the wearing of the new ensembles, and the many colours in vogue among feminine followers made the scene on the lawns a brilliant one. Blue, ranging from the pale powder toning to the deeper hues of cadet and Wallis, was favoured by a large majority, and many attractive ensembles in this colour with contrasting accessories were to be seen. The warm autumn tonings of tan, red earth, greens and browns were also much In evidence and In many cases unusual colour contrasts, popular this season, were to be seen. Navy was, as always, to be seen In smart tailored suits, and furs were worn In many cases with costumes. The trend In fashion for off-the-face hats was followed on Saturday, this variety in many styles being noticed. Boldinnie berets were to be seen, and tailored hats of the slouch variety were worn with tweeds.
