AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS MARGIN OF INNINGS AND 77 RUNS NORTHANTS WELL BEATEN (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright; (Received May 21. 3.15 p.m LONDON, May tO The Australian cricketers stained another victory by a wide margin at Northampton’ to-day when they defeated Northamptonshire by an Innings and 77 runs. When the game was resumed today the County, in their first innings, had lost three wickets for 131* runs. In reply to Australia’s first innings •core of 460 for six wickets. The batsmen failed to-day and the County •was all out before lunch for 19i runs. They followed on, and In their second Innings were dismissed for 135 runs. Very Steady Bowling Northant’s second innings was virtually a repetition of their first knock. The early batsmen Nelson, Greenwood and Snowden played well, but the others showed little class against the steady bowling. Greenwood alone batted with vigour, and hit team mates seemed to be trying to avert an innings defeat. A hailstorm stopped play for a quarter of an hour, but even this could not prevent an Australian victory. The New Zealanders. O’Brien and Merritt, were out as a result of weak strokes. A ninth-wicket stand between .Tames and Partridge realised 46 runs, this being the best of the in-s nlngs. Australia won with half an hour to •pare.
