FAMOUS FRIESIANS

TOTARA PARK STUD SALE NEXT MONTH The Piri Land Company’s sale, which is being held at Orini on June 13, offers buyers a great opportunity of securing stock which is highly infused with the blood of many recordbreaking sires and dams. The Totara Park Friesians are world-famous for high production of milk and butterfat and the wonderful development of this herd is undoubtedly due to the care taken in the selection of the foundation matrons and subsequent sires. The heifers are by Totara Pontiac Clothilde Reformer, sire of the famous T.C.R. Buttercup, the champion lifetime butterfat producer of all breeds (563(5 lb. fat); Totara Domino Mechthilde, sire of several show winners; Totara Netherland Majestic, unbeaten in the show ring; Dominion Forest Ranger, whose two tested daughters have records as 2-year-olds of 568 and 552 lb. fat; Totara Veeman Marathon, six tested daughters with records up to 718 lb. fat; Oakview Mercena Korndyke, whose grand-dam holds the world’s record for production and progeny; and Totara Pontiac Ormsby, whose seven nearest tested dams average 760 lb. fat. The heifers have been pasturing with the following bulls: With a son of T.C.R. Buttercup (5636 lb. fat, champion lifetime producer); a son of T. Veeman Lulu (946 lb. fat, junior 4-year record); a son of T. Sylvia Trixy (831 lb. fat and twice Royal Show champion); a son of T. Sylvia Lulu (675 lb. fat, the dam of T. Veeman Lulu); a son of T. Veeman Alva (663 lb. fat, daughter of the sire of T. Veeman Lulu); and a son of T.C.R. Cecilia (613 lb. fat, daughter of the sire of T.C.R. Buttercup). The bulls are by noted sires and from dams with high butterfat production and outstanding breeding with records such as: 764 lbs., 710 lbs., 705 lbs., 697 lbs., with five others over 600 lbs., and eight over 500 lbs. fat.
