The Adventures of Johnny and Joan.
DEAR EVERYONE, There has been great excitement in the Land of Nod lately for the Fairy Queen gave a banquet and all th 9 queer little Lords and Ladies of Fairyland were Invited. I expect the Queen did not consider a banquet a very suitable place for a puppy and a parrot for although Johnny and Joan received a pink rose-petal Invitation our poor pets were forgotten. Just at the first picture and you will see all the Fairy tables laden with good things and everyone waiting for the banquet to begin. ‘‘We must wait for Lady Ida to arrive before we start,” murmured the Quoen in Johnny's ear. But poor Biddy and Bone, how they wanted to taste some of these gorgeous dishes—but. Ah! the last guest is arriving, Lady Ida Nappie is announced and the door-keeper is so busy calling her name that he didn’t notice some very curious bumps in her Ladyship's train. But just look at the lest, picture and see what those bumps wore! Those two naughty pets had hidden themselves under Lady Ida's train and so they had erect right Into the Banquet Hall end under the banquet table. Pies, plums, pineapples and all sorts of goodies seemed to disappear from the table above like magic and those pets had such a jolly time, much nicer than if they had been really and truly proper guests—but of course, only we know this, so Sh-hJ PETER PAN
