WOMEN’S DIVISION

SOUTH AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL ANNUAL MEETING HELD The South Auckland Provincial executive held a meeting in the pariah hall, Te Awamutu. recently, when >lr» Ryburn presided over a representative gathering. After repeating the Creed, sympathy was extended to all member* who had suffered bereavement. Mrs Ryburn gave her report of the year'* work and that of the housekeeper department and Mrs Thomas presented the balance-sheet. Posies were presented to Mesdames Ryburn and Thomas in appreciation of their work. Miss Marshall reported on the meetings of the Farmers’ Union, to which she had been a delegate, and Dr. de ia Mare told of th*» work of the National Council of WomenAfter luncheon, the annual meeting was held, when apologies were received from the Cambridge delegates. Election of Officers The following officers were elected: President. Mrs Clements; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Ryburn, Holland and V. Pegier; secretary and treasurer, Mrs McWhannell; housekeeper secretary, Mrs Ryburn; advisory board. Miss Eyre and Mrs W. S. Hopping; organiser, Mrs Godfrey; committee, Mesdames Mclntosh, Thomas and Wells; remit advisory member, Mrs Mclntosh; delegates to Farmers’ Union, Mesdames H. Hall and Seymore; delegates to National Council of Women, Dr. de la Mare and Mrs Mclntosh; dressmaker secretary, Mrs Lewis Eyre; trustees of Post Office account, Mesdames Ryburn and Thomas. Meetings will In future be held in Hamilton. The Korakonul branch of the I Women's Division held its monthly } meeting in the Korakonui Hall, when J the president. Mrs N. M. Lethbridge. : occupied the chair. j The president asked for new books : for the library, explaining that it was • necessary for members to donate new j books. 1.09 formation of a gardening circle j was discussed, and it was decided to j have a gardening talk every month, . members to exchange plants. A hearty vote of thanks was ac- I corded Mrs Lethbridge for presenting j the branch with printed programmes for the year. An interesting competition arranged by Miss Margaret Froggatt, was won by Miss P. Kay. The total number of stamps collected for the month was 1262. Mrs I McDonald winning the vase for the j largest number. A delicious afternoon tea brought j the meeting to a close, the hostesses being Mesdames N. M- Lethbridge. L. Kay, M. Tuck and E. Hopping. ELBTOW BENIOR BRANCH MEMBER FAT* EWELL ED There was a large attendance of members of the Elstow senior branch of the Women's Division at the local hall to farewell Mrs H. Campbell, who is leaving to reside in Hamilton. The president. Miss E. Strange, spoke of the valuable service Mrs Campbell had given and the ex-president. Mrs Stembridffe. made the presentation of a beautiful bowl. In returning thanks. Mrs Campbell said she had been happy in her association with the Division. During the afternoon sexeral appreciated sonas were contributed by Mesdames Alley. G W. Wild and Mrs k H Dixon. There were two competitions the Mrs M the second Miss Cox received the award.
