VIOLINIST’S ROMANCE

YEHUDI MENUHIN'S ENGAGEMENT GIRL’S RELATIVES NOT SURPRISED News of the engagement of Miss Nola Nicholas to Yehudi Menuhin, the celebrated violinist, which came by cable from London, was no surprise to her relatives in Melbourne. Her aunt, Miss N. Nicholas, of Toorak, was aware of the romance for some time. A keen music-lover, Miss Nola Nicholas attended some of Yehudi Menuhin’s concerts in Melbourne in 1935, but the couple met for the first time in London last November. Miss Nicholas, who celebrated her 20th birthday anniversary last month, displayed distinct talent in her studies of both the piano and tlie violin. Her

enthusiasm for musio was the starting point of her friendship with Menuhin, which quickly blossomed into romance. She often spoke of the violinist in her letters from London.

Glossy auburn hair, a fair, clear complexion, and a slim figure give Miss Nicholas a striking distinction of appearance, and her vivacious temperament and unspoiled charm of manner have made her exceedingly popular. Miss Nicholas was presented at Court during the Coronation season in in London.
