NAVY LEAGUE PLEASED CONGRATULATIONS TO MINISTER <P3’ Telegrapn.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The following letter has been sent to the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, on behalf of the Navy League | in New Zealand: — ! “We wish to congratulate you upon, i your address at Dargaville on Tuesday last and assure you of the Navy League’s appreciation of the steps you and your Government are taking to strengthen the Dominion’s defences. 1 Your statements regarding our sea and air defences, in which the League is vitally interested, were most reassuring and encouraging and we shall urge ■ our organisation throughout the Dominion to help in shaping and extending that necessary public opinion to back you up in the policy you outlined in your address.”

The letter is signed by the president. Mr J. Sutherland Ro9s and the secretary, Mr R. Farroch.
