SHEDS CN WHARVES USED FOR WOOL DUMPING (By Telegrnrm.— Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday A claim, the decision on which will affect harbour boards throughout New Zealand, was heard to-day, before Mr J. H. Lux ford. S.M.. in the Magistrate’s Court. The case was one in which W. F. Ashbw inspector of factories, proceeded against the Wellington Harbour Board under the Factories Act. 1921-22. Plaintiff contended that the sheds used by the harbour board for wool "dumping" were factories within tlie meaning of the Act. The magistrate’s decision was reserved. Should it be in favour of plaintiff, the hoard will have in pay increased wages Io men working during Christmas and other holidays. Much of tlie work is done during holiday time, and the number of men employed in the sheds is considerable.

Backward Children. —ln a remit carried at the Auckland Provincial Conference at Auckland yesterday tlie notice of the Minister of Education was drawn to tiie total lack of educational facilities for backward children resident in country area#. It was pointed out that country school teachers were not equipped to train backward children, who were denied the educational facilities available to backward children in the cities.
