THE RUGBY FARE

TE AWAMUTU AT THE PARK PLAY FRANKTON TO-MORROW OLD BOYS AND TAUPIRI MEET Rugby supporters In Hamilton will have their first opportunity his season of seeing in action the Te Awamutu fifteen—which played (he leading Old Bovs team to a draw and defeated last year's champions. Technical, in the only two matches the team has played this year—at Rugby Park tomorrow, when Frankton will be the opponents. The match will be the only Stag Trophy game to be played at headquarters, and It should be a good one. Te Awamutu have a strong combination, and the team should prevail over Frankton, especially If the weather favours forward play, In which case the weight of the Te Awamutu pack—which includes the ex-All Black, J. O. Wynyard—should give Te Awamutu the greater percentage of the ball from the scrums. Frankton, however, suffered their first defeat last Saturday, at the hands of the rapidly-improving Cambridge team, and after being unlucky to experience two drawn results earlier in the season, Frankton will he keen to make up a leeway. The fifteen should be stronger to-morrow than it was last week. The team played in a fine game against Rovers on the opening day, and therefore a good exhibition can be expected again to-morrow. Old Boys’ Task In defeating Technical Old Bovs last Saturday Taupiri indicated that they are a team to be reckoned with. Their combination is rapidly improving, and with the finest pack In the Stag Trophy series the fifteen will extend Old Boys in the match at Ngaruawahia tomorrow. If the weather is wet and the game develops into a forward tussle Old Boys will have a task equally as difficult os they had against Te Awamutu last Saturday. At Te Awamutu Technical Old Boys meet Rovers. Technical will need to polish up their last week’s form io overcome the improving Rovers team, which appears to have a fine forward combination. Technical should win, but the advantage will not be clearcut. Cambridge have drawn a bye in the Stag Trophy series to-morrow, but the team will meet Putaruru In a representative match and will thus gain valuable practice. All the lower grade competitions of the Hamilton Rugby Union will be continued to-morrow. DRAW FOR ALL GRADES Stag Trophy—Te Awumutu v. Frankton, No. i, Rugby Park, 2.30 p.m. (Mr E.
