Some of the Dominion’s leading steeplechase talent is engaged in the big attraction of the day and every indication points to a spectacular encounter, Clarion Gall is looking a picture of condition and the latest record of this polished jumper claims attention. After winning the Egmont Steeplechase with 10.12 he completely outclassed the opposition in the Wanganui Steeplechase the other week over to-morrow’s distance with 11.9. All Irish appeals as one of the likeliest to extend him. He lias proved himself a good ’chaser in the past and indicated a return to form by winning over hurdles at Avondale recently. Yesterday he gave a polished display over the country at headquarters and promises to strip in great fettle. Riotous failed in the Wanganui Steeplechase due largely to the torrid pace set early by Clarion Cali, but in the event of the going being holding to-mor-row he may be seen to belter advantage. Forest Glow has been in the money in his last four starts, his last appearance being in the Grandstand Steeplechase at Wanganui. in which he finished third. Another likely improver is Huskie, a reliable jumper, who beat all but Clarion Call and Royal Fire in the Egmont Steeplechase. He shaped well over the Te Rapa country in Use final trials yesterday. Neil .jumps well and claims the Mangere Steeplechase to his credit. Yolpeen possess ;l jumper's chance, an.l Lucidus. who lias been racing consistently well of late, mav be e.
