The latest form of Gay Rebel has not been impressive, but he is capable of showing improvement at any time now. Gay Streak has been racing fairly consistently and the easing nature of the tracks should assist him. Jack Tar showed to advantage in the final trials at Ellerslie yesterday and, according to a report from that centre, he will need only to reproduce that trial to take a power of beating here. Loombinatlon disclosed encouraging form at Avondale and Is not without a chance but the prospects.of Barrister make stronger appeal. He cams with ’a sustained run in the Hack Cup (nine furlongs) at Pukekohe to beat Gay Streak in a good finish and he should strip In forward condition. Disturbed won easily over seven furlongs at Hawer. a fortnight ago and he is handily situated in the handicap. Abbey Lass looks well and Cometarlum should be Improved with racing, and this will be his opportunity to make amends for recent disappointments. Alyth, Arawa Rose, General Ruse, Mai de Mer and Mio Fratollo will claim a measure of support, while Hunting Blood, who Is engaged earlier in the day, may find a mile beyond him. It should be a good BARRISTER betting race with preference JACK TAR likely to he extended FARLAND
