FINE FIELDS ENGAGED TO-MORROW
DOMINION’S BEST IN BIG STEEPLES BIC ENTRY IN HURDLE EVENT The Prospects Under Review (By “Martian”) * With large and well-balanced fields engaged throughout, the opening day of the Waikato Racing Club’s Winter meeting at Te Rapa to-morrow should be productive of spectacular racing and, with fine weather on the day, the Club should experience one of the most successful fixtures in recent years. The chief attraction, the Te Rapa Steeplechase, has drawn eleven acceptors and as the majority have recent form to provide a line on their prospects, betting should assume a generous range. In the Waikato Hurdles the fine field of thirteen should provide an interesting duel among some fine jumpers while in the mile and a-quarter flat event and open sprint the material is there for wide speculation.
