CAUSE OF UNREST
ECONOMIC REASONB FREER TRADE SUGGESTED Special Reporter) AUCKLAND, Thursday The opinion that the present world unrest had largely an economic cause was expressed by delegates when the ~nd Provincial Conference of the Farmers’ Union was resumed yesterday. it was pointed out that the highly industrialised nations lacked markets for their produce and also lacked colonies to supply them with food products. A remit was carried urging that it should be the policy of New Zealand to take every possible means to • xchange its primary production with lhe industrial production of Britain, and later to include all other nations without artificial restriction. In view of the fact that competing countries supplying the British market with goods similar to those supplied by New Zealand could place their goods in numerous markets besides Britain, the conference, in another remit, resolved to ask the Government to extend the Dominion’s trade in the Far East and In other markets so that, in the event of any mishap with the British market, the super-excellence of the goods supplied by New Zealand might not prove the Dominion's downfall.
