WAIKATO HUNT

RECENT MEETS HARES RATHER SCARCE The Waikato Hunt met at Messrs Fisher Bros.’, Pukerimu. undpr ideal conditions. There was a fair field nut, led hv the master. Mr Wynn Brown, with Mr Ned Brown as whip. Hares were disappointingly scarce, and as a result It was a poor day for hunting. The field enjoyed one fair run when n kill was recorded, while hounds chopped another. These were the only hares seen. This was the more disappointing as Messrs Fisher Pros, and the neighbouring farmers had their country in great order. The field and followers were entertained to morning and afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs W. Fisher, and the master paid tribute to the interest and enthusiasm towards hunting of the Pukerimu farmers. Mr Brown mentioned! the scarcity of hares and suggested, with Mr W. Fisher, that steps be laken to secure some from elsewhere fur liberation at Pukerimu. as the district is an ideal one ror hunting. Among visitors were Mr and Mrs Ryall. or Aria King Country. Mr Henry Rothery had Amorls out qualifying, and others prevlouslv mentioned were continuing their qualifying. At Putaruru The hunt also met at Mr Man Rent’s, Putaruru. when there was a field of 50. The field enjoyed a 200,1. day. Messrs J. McSweeney an* .1. Boyce had two hunters each out qualifying.
