TO RELIEVE PRESSURE
INDUSTRIAL MAGISTRATES A MINISTER'S INTENTIONS WELLINGTON, Wednesday The advisability of appointing industrial magistrates to relieve the Arbitration Courts in matters of minor importance Is being considered by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. 11. T. Armstrong, who stated to-day that he was thinking seriously of recommending such a step to the Government. The Minister Indicated that if magistrates were appointed, they would have to be properly qualified men. Auckland would receive first consideration in view of th* pressure of work there. He considered that industrial magistrates would relieve the court of minor matters, and be able to give interpretations of awards much more expeditiously than was possible at present.
