May 17 Italian bachelors, already Ihe subject of special taxation, are further penalised under a new decree, says the Rome correspondent of Hie Daily Mail. Henceforth no unmarried Italian or widower without children can be appointed mayor, assistant mayor, town councillor or chairman of any official '■'.•mmittec.
