May 17 The Government has moved troops into the States of Guanajuato and San Luis Potosi as a precaution against possible uprisings. TMe troop movements followed riots in Mexico City, in which leftist students were driven from the university by armed police, several being wounded. The university is considered by tlie Leftists as a Rightist stronghold.
The newspaper Hombre Libre prints a rumour that President Cardenas intends to resign.
