May IT Owing to steady rain falling throughout the morning and again In the afternoon the cricket match between the and M.C.C. was abandoned and ended in a draw. This was the Australians fifth match and the first one that they have not won by a very wide margin. It is also the first with which rain Mas interfered to any ereat extent, otherwise there was every possibility of another smashing victory. Australia had scored 502 runs in their first innings and M.C.C. had been dismissed for 21 4 and had lost one wicket for 87 runs in their second venture.

James, O’Brien and Merritt have been Included in the team, this being tlie first season that O'Brien and Merritt have represented Northamptonshire.
