Mr J. Huxley, of London, is in Hamilton. Mr A. H. Michell, of Hamilton, has returned from a visit to Australia. Mr G. D. Hunter, of Horsham Downs, is in Auckland attending the annual provincial conference of the Farmers’ Union. Mr D. C. Maver, of Hamilton, had i the degree of Bachelor of Commerce 1 conferred upon him at the recent capping ceremony of the Auckland University College. Sir GcVald Campbell, K.C.M.G., who has been since 1931 British ConsulGeneral in New York, has been selected as High Commissioner in Canada, succeeding Sir Francis Floud. Mr N. S. Falla, chairman and managing-director of the Union Steam Ship Company, Limited, left Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday for Vancouver, en route to England. Messrs H. W. Hobbs, B. Murphy, J. A. Malcom, A. J. Nicol (Auckland;, E. Roe (Rotorua , W. London,,F. J. Bradley, F. C. Johnston (Wellington), and P. T. F. Fleming New Plymouth, are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr G. W- Hutchison, district governor-elect of Rotary in New Zealand, and Mr A. S. Bailey left Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday for Vancouver, en route to the international conference of Rotary in San Francisco next month. Mr A. E. Rudder, personal representative in Australia of Imperial Airways and a director of Qantas Empire Airways, left Auckland yesterday for Wellington to confer upon the proposal to inaugurate a trans-Tasman air service. The King has approved the appointment of Vice-Admiral Andrew B. Cunningham, C. 8.. D. 5.0.. to be a Lord Commissioner of the British Admiralty and Deputy-Chief of the Naval Staff', in succession to Admiral Sir William James. Mr J. A. McLean has by unanimous vote been re-elected chairman of the North Auckland Electric Power Board. Mr McLean has been chairman since 1924 and a member of the Board since 1916, says a message from Dargavillc. A congregational meeting of t lie Chalmers Presbyterian Church last night decided to extend a unanimous call to the Rev. Malcolm Wilson, a New Zealander, who is at York Presbyterian Church, England. Mr Wilson graduated from Otago University, and then attended Knox College. Dunedin. He then went to Westminster College, Cambridge, to complete his training. When lie returned to New Zealand. Mr Wilson was stationed at Huntly for three years, and lie then returned to England. For the past five years he has been minister at York." Rear-Admiral the Hon. E. R. Drummond will leave Auckland on June 10 (>n route for England, his term on the New Zealand station having expired. His successor as commander of the sea-going squadron. Captain I. c. Glennie, who will assume the rank of commodore, will tly his flag from 11.M.5. Achilles, of which he is at present chief executive oiih-er to the admiral.
