HEAVY FINES IMPOSED
INTOXICATED MOTORISTS OFFENCES AT HUNTLY (Special to Times) HUNTLY. Tuesday. Charge* of being Intoxicated while In charge of a mor-or-ear were heard In the Huntly Police Court yesterday before Mr \V. H. Freeman. S.M., against Robert Burton Nicholson and Donald Raymond Hoffman. both single men employed as labourers on public works. Another charge of drunkenness against the accused was dismissed. Evidence was given that on Saturday last about 4.30 p.m., Nicholson was delving the car. which was owned by Hoffman. in the direction of Auckland. At the Convent corner. Huntly South, it collided with an electric-light pole. Constable* Craigie a»d Sutherland arrested both men. • HolTman wa* charged with adding and abetting Nicholson jn the commission of an ofTence. to wit. with being intoxicated while In charge of a motor-car. Both accu*ed xwe convicted and fined £ls and allowed 11 day* in which to pav. and their drivers’ licenses were cancelled for two years.
OTOROHANGA COURT MOTORIST FINED £ls (Special to Times) OTOROHANGA. Tuesday. Tn the Otorohanga Police Court to-day, before Messrs XV. Black, XX’. Dimond and R. Green. J.P.’s., Aubert Greer XX'ilkinson (36) Mr J. F. Trapski). an employee of the XX'aitomo Electrte-power Board, pleaded guilty to a charge of betnsr intoxicated while In charge or a car at Otorohanga on May 16. Evidence wa* given by Constable McDonnell that he had followed accused'* car a* a result of a rrvnplaint he had received about anoth»* matter earlier Jn the day. He had called a doctor, who certified that defendant was intoxicated and unfit to drive.
