OLD ELECTION MESSAGE
ÜBED WITHOUT AUTHORITY PRIME MINISTER UPHELD (By Telegraph.—press Association) AUCKLAND. Monday In his denial that he had taken part In last week's local election, the Prime Minister, the Right lion. M. J. Savage, was to-day upheld by the Auckland branch of the Labour Party. Attention had been drawn to newspaper advertisements published a week ago containing a message under Mr Savage’s name urging citizens to work and vote for all Labour candidates. However, it was revealed to-day that the quotations were taken from a message issued by Mr Savage on the occasion of the local polls three years ago when he was still Leader of the Oppotlon and they were used last week without his knowledge. He had been asked earlier for an election message but gave a definite reply that he did not wish to take any part in the local elections. The local Labour publicity committee thought no harm would be done nor objection raised by reiterating his three-year-old statement.
