VIOLENT CRIMES
AN OUTBREAK IN SYDNEY WORST FOR MANY YEARS MEN STABBED, SHOT, BATTERED United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received May 16, 11.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 16 One of the worst outbreaks of violent crimes for many years occurred in Sydney at the week-end. One of four men who were stabbed in two different affrays will probably die. Four oilier men were shot in two underworld feuds, one man was battered by a thug, and there were several smash and grab raids in the city. Police wireless cars and cycles experienced a very busy time. Two constables were injured, one critically, when a motor-cycle crashed into a brick wall during a chase.
