PETER PAN’S LETTER

PREVENTION

J)EAR GIRLS AND BOYB, Little people to the right of the road, little people to the left j of the road, little folk skipping on top of the hill or playing leap-frog i In the next-door-neighbour’s garden, little folk at the bottom of the j hill In pursuit of a runaway trolley—girls and boys everywhere, and : what a Jolly scene It all Is. There are boys and girls tumbling about In bright red Jerseys and bright green and blue ones, too, and such gay ; lights are to be found now that the Holiday Ship Is on another voyage. Peter and the Twins have been slipping Into the country for short holidays and the fields look so lovely and green, especially If Mr Bun Is : shining, but the day always seems to pass so quickly that Peter has to return home before he really wants to. Haven’t tire days been chilly lately? Peter wakes In the mornings to And Someone fast asleep on hls toes and he makes such a lovely warm hot water bottle. The Wendy Person and the Sunshine Girl have been very busy these last few days with clicking needles and brightly coloured wools and even Jenne is very busy trying to knit her dolly a new winter frook, but somehow the stitches seem to slip off her needles when she is not looking and now there seem to be very few stltohes left at all. The Wendy Person has Just put her head around the door and she said “Oh, Peter, when you are writing your letter lo the Children, you might tell them that It Is time for Peggy Squares again,” so Peter hopes that all of hls little members will be busy with clicking needles too, all ready to make nice warm quilts for our Winter Campaign. The Sunshine Girl says that the squares are best when they are six Inches wide and If the little people knit them in plain or moss stitch then they are much easier to sew together as they do not curl under. If any of our older and more experienced knitters can make some tiny baby clothes Peter is sure that there will always be some little folk whom they will fit, so do set to work members and see how many Peggy Squares and Winter Gifts you can make. And now Just a little garden news before Peter finishes this letter as we have not had any for such a long time, have we? This week, as Peter was hurrying to work, he saw the loveliest bed of delphiniums whose misty blue flowers looked lovely In the golden sun’s rays and then there were some scarlet orab apples In huge bunches making such a lovely picture In the midst of green leaves. Peter’s ohrysanthemums are becoming very bedraggled after the heavy rain of last week and hls trees are looking very bare as all the flame and gold leaves have fallen to the ground to be swept up and made Into lovely warm bonfires. It does not seem as though King Winter will stay away very much longer, does It? And now lots of love and lots of pennies to save for the Show days which lie just around the corner. From yours hollday-lng,

Bobby: Daddy, did you tell me an apple a day keeps the doctor away? Father: Yes, my son. Bobby: Well, may 1 have an apple, 'cos I've broken Ihe doctor's window!
