WOMEN'S DIVISION
HAMILTON BRANCH The monthly meeting o£ the Hamilton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms recently, tile president, Mrs Wells, presiding over a good attendance. After the reading of the Creed members stood in silence as a mark of sympathy to Mrs Lusby, in the loss of her daughter. An invitation was extended to members to attend the Cambridge birthday party on May 23, at 1.30 p.m. Arrangements were finalised for the Hamilton birthday party, the date being fixed for June 28. The report of the National Council of Women presented by Mrs J. Ward ■ Chapman gave a resume of the year’s' activities. Visits have, been made to the hospital and jam, fruit, and flowers distributed. Mrs Courtenay spoke on Winter Showstall matters a"nd urged each member to help in any way—cakes, sweets, jams, pickles and vegetables being especially asked for. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Webb and Miss Gibson, two of the oldest members, for the help they have given, and are -giving to the branch, especially for the quilts and clothes brought to the meeting. An interesting travel talk was given bv Mrs Curling, describing a motor trip through the North and South Islands. This was much appreciated and a hearty vote of thanks was extended the speaker. CHAUPO BRANCH The annual meeting of the Ohaupo ( branch was held recently. Mrs Seymour presided over a well-attended meeting. A very satisfactory report on the year's work was given, the balance sheet showing a good financial position. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs Seymour; vicepresidents, Mesdames Pierce and Warner; treasurer, Mrs E. J. Edwards; secretary, Mrs Jenkinson; assistant secretary, Mrs Vickers; delegates to the provincial, Mesdames Pierce and Sommerville. The flower competition held during the year was won by Mrs Warner. The hostesses were Mesdames Sommerville and Pierce. The roll call, first aid for a child's scalded foot, was instructive. The meeting closed with afternoon tea. NQARUABRANCH ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Ngarua branch of the Women Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the local hall recently, when a good attendance of members was present. In the absence of Mrs Carter, the president, Mrs Scott occupied the chair. The president report of the year's activi- ! ties was read, after which the secretary read her report and the treasurers report. 1 The meeting passed a vote of thanks these officers for their services. The officers elected for the coming vear were as follo\ys:—President, Mrs W. Scott; vice-presidents, Mes- ; dames Carter and Donovan; secretary, , Mrs F. Reeve; treasurer, Mrs Pikett; ' committee, Mesdames Hayward, Lamb, L Tomlinson, Belfleld, Davenport and James; house-keeping secretary, Mrs , Davenport; advisory member, Mrs CarI ter; librarian, Mrs Laird, junr.; deleI gates to the Piako Executive, vice- ’ presidents; tea member, Mrs Davis; . competition steward, Mrs L. Donovan; ■ sales table, Mrs Tomlinson and Mrs f P. Davis; reporter, Mrs A. Donovan. , It was made an open afternoon after f the conclusion of business and tea was 5 served by the hostesses for the day, M-.sdames A. Vickers and P. Davis.
