SPOONER—JENKINS The wedding took place at St- Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Claudelands, on the afternoon of Saturday, May 7, when Naomi Ceridwen, elder daughter of Mrs A. Pryse Jenkins, of “Caranarvon," Claudelands, and the late Mr \V. Pryse Jenkins, was married to Thomas George Melville, elder son of Mr and Airs G. E. Spooner, “Guildford Lodge,” Hahiri Road, Mt. Eden, Auckland. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. G. Gilbert, and the wedding music was played by Mr E. H. Apthorp. The church had been beautifully arranged wuth autumn flowers. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr Dan Jenkins, wore a charming frock of ivory white embossed lace mounted over satin beaute and fashioned on slim-fitting lines. The frock was trimmed with satin-covered buttons at the back and on the sleeves, a spray of orange blossom being worn on the shoulder. The skirt, which fell gracefully to form a long, tulle train, was appliqued with lace motifs and caught with sprays of orange blossom. She wore also a three-row pearl necklet. Her veil of tulle fell from a coronet of orange blossom to form a second train and she carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, lilies and pink carnations. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Gwyneth Jenkins, sister of the bride, and Miss Jean Hamilton Clark. They wore graceful frocks of stardust crepe, one in gold and the other in blue, designed simply on sllm-fltting lines and finished with gauntlets of silver lame. On their hair they wore silver bandeaux and they carried bou- ’ lets of gold-shaded roses and chryj .nthemums, relieved with blue phiniumsThe bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr John Spooner, as best man, and Mr Keith Radford was groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs G. and M. Jenkins and W. Seabrook. During the signing of the register, the Rev. Everil Orr sang an appropriate solo. The Centreway Rooms, where a reception was held following the ceremony, had been artistically decorated with Iceland poppies and roses. The guests wen received by Airs Jenkins, mother of the bride, who was wearing a frock of amethyst satin-backed sneer, trimmed with gold, with liat to match. She carried a posy composed of autumn flowers in gold and orange shades. The bridegroom's mother's ovster grey frock with applique trimmings was worn with a mole fur coat and a violet hat, and she carried a posy ol flowers in shades of violet. Mrs J. W. Jones, of Waikino, sang '-Love's Coronation” at the conclusion of the wedding breakfast. The bride travelled in a smart frock of Co’.er Persian cloque worn with a navy 'fur fabric coat, navy velour hat and accessories to match. Among the guests present were:— The Rev. H. GILCHRIST—CARTER The wedding was solemnised by the Rev. w. T. Brabyn, at the Presbyterian Church, Te Kuiti, on Saturday, April 30, when Helen Irene, only daughter of Air and Mrs W. F. Carter, of Te Kuiti, was married to Robert James Alexander Gilchrist, of Waitati, Dunedin. Mr Richard Ferguson played the wedding music. Tile bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of angel - skin crepe de chine fashioned with a high cowl neckline and fastened at the back with a row of miniature buttons. The sleeves were long and fitting, ending in a point over the hands. She -wore gold earrings and a chain which had belonged to her great-grandmother. Her veil of embroidered tulle was held to the head with a halo of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. ; t 'iss Nora Johnston, of Te Kuiti, and Miss Thora Robins, of Auckland, were the bridesmaids. They were dressed alike in frocks fashioned of daffodil taffeta, with blue velvet relief and blue pleated caps to tone. They carried bouquets of blue shaded flowersMr J. Carter, brother of the bride, was best man, and Mr E. Carter was usher. A largely-attended reception was held at the Tourist Rooms, the bride's mother receiving the guests in a navy costume and peachbloom hat to tone. She carried a posy of blue shaded flowers. The bridegroom's mother wore a black and pink ensemble, with hat In a toning shade. She carried a posy of flowers in autumn shades. The honeymoon is being spent on an extended tour of the North and South Islands. The bride travelled in a smart navy costume, with coat, furs and accessories to match. Mr and Airs R. J. A. Gilchrist will make their home at AValtati.
WATSON —BOLSTAD A pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Hamilton, on Saturday, April 23, when Grace, youngest daughter of Mrs E. M. Bolstad, of Hamilton, was married to Albert, twin son of Mr and Mrs L. A. Watson, Frankton. The ceremony was perform -d by the Rev. R. B. Tinsley, and the wedding music was played by Mr H. G. Cook. The church was decorated with chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr Ray Bolstad, wore a charming gown of ivory satin, fashioned on simple classical lines. The corsage was softly folded in the front and finished at the neckline with a spray of orange blossom. The long, tight-fitting sleeves were pleated at the shoulderline and finished with a point over the hand. The skirt fell from a closely-fitting high waistline into a -slight train. Her veil was held in place with a headdress of orange blossom, and formed a second train. The bride carried a sheaf of white roses, dahlias and maidenhair fern. The matron-of-honour, Mrs Frank Watson, of Morrinsville, wore a picture frock of pale cyclamen taffetaThe high-waisted bodice was fashioned with a square neckline and finished with a cluster of velvet flowers, over which was worn a short-sleeved frilled bolero jacket. The flower-girl, Shirley Floyd, of Taihape, niece of the bride, wore a frock cut on similar lines and finished with frills with tiny silver buttons fastening down the back. Halo headdresses were worn, and both carried bouquets of mauve-tinted flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr W. F. Johnston as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Wattle Rooms. Mrs Bolstad received her guests wearing a graceful frock of brown embossed satin. relieved with touches of silver lame. She wore a brown hat and carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. Mrs Butterworth, aunt of the bridegroom, wore a smartly cut frock of navy crepe de chine finished with a shoulder spray of white roses. With it was worn a matching hat. The bride travelled in a smart navy frock with a fur necklet and navy accessories. Mr ami Mrs A. Watson will make their home in Morrinsville. The guests included: The Rev. R. B.
