SONG COMPETITION

SYDNEY WOMAN WINS £IOO WORDS BY JEAN BATTEN’S AUNT The Sydney Sunday Sun Ginger Meggs song prize of £IOO was won by Mrs R. H. Neil, of Potts Point, Sydney, from more than 500 entries. Proudly Mrs Neil admitted that she would not have submitted an entry but for the urging of her husband and son. Both, she said, were convinced that she could win if she tried. “I arn tremendously thrilled at the thought of being the winner,” she said. The words of the song which is entitled “Just a Little Ginger-headed Fellow,” were written by Mareida Batten, an aunt of Jean Batten. Mrs Neil was also the composer of the successful “Eily Aroon.”
