It will be remembered that Muni’s remarkable acting in " The Story of Louis Pasteur ” picture won for him the Academy Award as the best performance of the year while his magnificent portrayal'of Emile Zola, the great French firebrand novelist in ** The Life of Emile Zola ” won for this picture (produced by Warner Brothers) the Award as 44 the best picture of 1937.” Screen Newcomer Wins New Contract Because of her excellent work in “ Jezebel," the forthcoming Warner Bros, production co-starring Bette Davis and Henry Fonda, Ellen Clancy, seventeen year old newcomer to Hollywood, has won a new long-term contract and plans are now afoot for spotting her in bigger and better roles, advises a dispatch from the Burbank Californian studios. Jack L. Warner, vice-president in charge of production at Burbank plant, enthused over Miss Clancy's work as shown in the first “ rushes ” of “ Jezebel,” directed the drawing up of the new contract and also announced that Miss Clancy will be known as Janet Shaw on the screen in future.
