Fine Fields at Claudelands

WAIKATO AUTUMN FIXTURE

PROLETARIAN’S CHAN.CES FAVOURED

THE PROSPECTS REVIEWED (By “Padlock") Large and well-balanced field? are carded for the Autumn meeting, to-morrow, of the Waikato Trotting Club at its wellappointed course at Claudelands and there is every indication that this progressive local club will experience one of the most successful gatherings in recent years. The chief event, the Autumn Handicap, has attracted the fine entry of ten well-performed contestants and it promises to be a fine race. The sprint has also filled well while in the saddle event, the concluding race on the card, fourteen pacers have survived the scratching pen. Win and place betting will be in operation. Following are the fields with a review of the prospaots:—

tarlan, who has struck winning form again, should hold her safe. It should be aji interesting race with good support extended—

With the majority of the field all I on the limit the luck of the draw may ; have a strong bearing on the issue. Among smart beginners off the front are Moira Bingen, Heather Glow, Flash Bye, Bnd Leeleeta and they will have .to be treated with respect. Rose | Marble has been off the scene for a • spell but fit and well on the day she I will possess good prospects. Heather | Glow disclosed encouraging form at the recent Auckland gathering and should be benefited by the outing and i Flash Bye, who has been working well in recent weeks, should strip fit and well on the day. Riptide, too, has , shown promise in his work. The j form of Canadian at Epsom recently ! was impressive and he will command jan optimistic following. He achieved iMs Auckland success in convincing I style and he may continue his wini nlng way at Claudelands- Corona Bell has been racing with a conslst- ! ency that will claim her a following, i Native Princess is not without a chance : but Braemar, who shaped well at Ep- ! som the other week, should hold her safe in a race In which the prime fancies may comprise— CANADIAN CORONA BELL FLASH BYE 12.10

that form will give him an excp|len chance. Young Pointer will be a

! as in the tlrst race, an important bear- | ine on the result. Wall Street is a J likely improver whose latest essays • have held promise of better things and I he promises to be on* of the fancied i division. John s Last is another who j shaped well at Auckland and he should ; have splendid fitness on his side. Star- ! gum is racing into form and possesses ' a good chance, and Axminister. a failure in recent starts, is capable of Improvement on those essays. As present indications are for a firm track to-morrow Jewel Crest will have to be treated with every respect. He is In his element on top of the ground. Peter Smith failed recently, but has been shaping well at headquarters and Is not without an outside chance. On the score of condition he has much to commend his claims. Scottish Bard is a prospect and Neon Oro should be benefited by racing at Epsom. Sunny Parrish and Frank Rolfe are the best of the others in a race in which th*» rmblic may sum up for— WALL STREET .I • ill VS I/AST JEWEL CREST

The field in the chief event is a well-balanced one «nd fancies will assume a generous range. Guid liairst is bearing a healthy appearance and should run well and Kewpie’s Crest appears to be on the improve. If rain falls in the interim his chances will be assisted. Argolis possesses good form up to a mile and a-half and while he will have to be taken on trust over

i The majority entered here are en- ; gaged earlier in the day *and their ! prior running should provide a reliable J line on iheir chances here. Among those not starting earlier. Ratepayer f needs only io pace correctly to be in the picture-over I lie deciding stages. ! Sports Queen is a likely improver who | should go well, and Axminster. who ! finished a creditable third in the ! lir-pRI Northern Derby, should be suitled by the distance. He is a good ! sort when rigjit. The spring and j summer form of Roma Girl was d:s----j tinctly encouraging and if a surprise is recorded it, is quite on the cards it I may rnme from this direction. two miles lip should, nevertheless, carry his full share of support. The Thames Trottinc Cup victor. Hay Sister. will have to be respected, especially if she can repeat that form. Muskefper proved a failure at Hawera and Epsom, but is capable of atonement. He has previously won on the course. Winawav has useful form to commend her. but Our War may be preferred. His form of late has been pretty consistent and he should strip in (rood order. Crocus may be troubled bv the distance and Prole-

Among the likely Improvers engaged here Is Charlie Chan, who recently rejoined F. J. Smith's team. He is coupled on the machines with the consistent Sandusky and the combination will command attention. Lady Amanda has been shaping pleasingly in her work at Claudelands and is a strong possibility. Eliminate also possesses a chance. Derby Lu is a likely improver and Petite Jewel has demonstrated in the past a partiality for the Claudelands track, winning at the last Waikato fixture. Bismuth appears to be coming right again. Our Summer was a winner on the West. Coast circuit and a reproduction of

the better for racing at Epsom and Handicapper is the type always likely to be a danger. Transwell is steadily improving with racing and it will not be on Hie score of condition if lie fails ; to give of his best to-morrow. Baron ! Grand. who has been shaping wMI in j recent weeks, went solid races at the j Thames and he looks the pick nf the j remainder. When the final figures j are hoisted the lists may be headed CHARLIE CHAN—SANDUSKY bracket. TRAN SWELL OUR SUMMER

Argolis is in splendid heart just now and should be right at home over the distance. Compass may feel the need of recent racing, but when right is decidedly useful, especially, when the going is on the soft side. Gay Sister is a solid pacer while the "same may also be said of Musketeer and Kewpie's Crest. Hearsay's form is good and his good second to Our War at Awapuni and rather unlucky defeat at the hands of Joe Savoldi at New Plymouth were indicative of early retribution. Our Peggy, produced at her best, would take a lot of beating. Yaldor is a likely improver who showed a glimpse of returning form at Hawera. Our War is consistent and Winawav will handle the distance well. Crocus and Proletarian are a smart pair of sprinters and Star Pronto, on his Auckland showing, must be treated with every respect. The public may prefer the "credentials of— HEARSAY CROCUS ARGOLIS 418

The saddle event is one of the most interesting races of the day’s programme and the material is there for a fine betting race. Ivaitawa was ' second at his last essay in saddle and he will need only to pace correctly to take a lot of beating. Nerihana, too, has shown good form in this class of event and King Country should go well over the mile distance. Bold Venture and Bismuth should make a bold showing and the former will need only to go away correctly to be In if, at the end. Charlie Chan is a speedy type who will claim a following and Cherrill has winning form in saddle and she appears to be coming right again. Hori Bingen, who won the saddle event at the last meeting here, has been hitting out- attractively in his trials and he promises to strip in splendid rettle. Luminate and Oerhy Lu have prospects and Our Summer is in winning vein. Try merit Should account for the rest. She is on a difficult mark, but is a great beginner and licr early brilliance will materially assist her. The favourites may be—CHERRILL HORI BINGEN BOLD VENTURE

| Canadian is engaged earlier in the ! day, but. if started here, he will have | excellent prospects, especially if unj successful earlier in the day.
