DEFENCE OF FRANCE
MAY BUY FOREIGN PLANES PRODUCTION SPEEDED UP United Press Assn.—EJec. TeC Copyright LONDON, May 11 France, like Britain, may have' to buy foreign aircraft in .order to keep abreast of her defence needs. There is a curious parallel between Yhe French and British dases. In France it is officially claimed that production is being speeded up, but it is admitted that there is a ‘‘bole,” possibly requiring to be filled from abroad. M. Guy Lachambre, Air Minister, stated to-day that since March 17 he had signed orders for 1400 machines. If lie found abroad modern aeroplanes available for immediate delivery he would unhesitatingly buy, in order to fill out the section of the programme ending in March, 1939.
