OVFRCOME BY GAS
BOROUGH WORKER MISHAP IN COLLINGWOOD STREET While engaged In cutting and replugging a gas main in Colllngwood Street about noon to-day, Mr Robert Grant, of Queen's Avenue, Frankton, an employee of the Hamilton Borough Council was overcome by the fumes and collapsed in the hole In which he was working. Medical assistance was summoned, and Mr Grant was then taken to the Waikato Hospital in a St John Ambulance, being admitted in an unconscious condition. He Is progressing satisfactorily. With a companion, Mr F. Bolinson, Mr Grant had tunnelled under the roadway near the intersection of Collingwood and Amrlesea streets and both men we’re working In a confined space below the road. Apparently Mr Grant felt the efforts of the gas before Mr Rolinson and lie was observed stagsrering on the footpath by a passing cyclist. Mr R. il. Anders, who immediately rushed to his assistance. In the meantime Mr Rolinson had also '• the hole with the intention of ■ Ive Mr Grant. It is believed that when Mr Grant recovered sufficiently his fears for Mr Rol’nson's safety were aroused and he returned to the cas main Where lie eoß.ipsed.
