Stole a Bicycle.—For stealing a bicycle valued at £B. the property of Clifford Colson. Walter Sydney Newell 32 . a salesman, was placed on two years’ probation when he was convicted by Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court. Hamilton, yesterday afternoon. At the time of his arrest accused had a halfpenny in his possession. Detective A. J. While said accused had been out of work for a long time and without food for several days, lie was in a stale of desperate need and hunger. He stole the bicycle in tlie hope that lie could realise some cash for it.
