BALVATION ARMY JUBILEE THE CULTIVATION OF HABITS In connection with the Jubilee gatherings being held by the Salvation Army in Hamilton, a happy afternoon was 6pent yesterday when a large number of ladies was present in the Salvation Army Hall to hear an address on “Habits” delivered by Mrs Commissioner Adams. The meeting was opened by the Mayoress, Mrs J. R. Fow. After the singing of the opening hymn, Major Sanson prayed. A solo was sung by Miss Lorna Clark, and Scripture read by Mrs Captain Houton Cambridge) was followed by a solo by Mrs Brigadier Suter. Mrs Fow' congratulated the Army on attaining its fiftieth birthday. She spoke of the early days of the Army in Hamilton, mentioning the good work done. She then Introduced Mrs Commissioner Adams, who thanked the Mayoress for her welcome. Mrs Adams, whose address was listened to with interest, took for her subject “Habits.” The speaker said that good habits were a source of strength; bad ones were a source of misery. Good habits included punctuality, cleanliness, thrift, system and cheerfulness. The address was interspersed with humorous incidents from life. Other habits endorsed by Mrs Adams were spiritual habits. She implored those present to cultivate the habit of trustfulness, mentioning the necessity of this in the home and among others. Another habit emphasised was that of prayer, which was essential in every woman's life. Mrs Adams concluded by mentioning the habit of praise. Praise and joyfulness made the home much happier than pessimism. An enjoyable meeting was brought to a close with anot ler solo sung by Mrs Brigadier Suter, those present joining in tlie chorus. Mrs Colonel Scotney proposed votes of thanks to Mrs Fow and Mrs Adams.
