Copyright 'Received M«y 9. 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, May 8 The Berlin correspondent of the Times says the English and French representations to Czechoslovakia are not unwelcome, provided they emphasise that Sudeten Germans must be granted self-determination. Some quarters distrust the AngloFrench moves. PRAGUE. May 8 After the English and French General Staff discussions the Germans desire a quick settlement, but without a European war. Then only will Germany Ire free to Improve her relations with tlie Western Powers, particularly England. The flerlin correspondent of fhe Daily Telegraph says Sir Xevile Henderson's \ isif is regarded as a friendly act. Undoubtedly an attempt to persuade Germany to restrain the Sudetcns would be deeply resented. It is believed that Hr. Woermann told Sir Xevile Henderson that Germany has no Intention of using armed force in Czechoslovakia. Newspaper messages from Rome leave little doubt that Signor Mussolini has consented to allow Germany a free hand in Czechoslovakia.
