May 7 The underwriters have had to take up about 60 per cent, of the Commonwealth loan of £7,000,000 at 3! per cent . 1952-56. at £99. Investors only applied for about £2.380.000. The loan opened at seventh-eighths discount, declining to £l. The disappointing reception of the loan has slightly depressed the giltedged market as a whole.
